Achievements
Behind the development of Norton Park was the belief that the effectiveness and efficiency of the voluntary sector was being constrained due to the high rents of commercial property and the duplication of resources and activity on account of isolated working. Bringing groups together into high quality shared office accommodation would benefit the sector and its clients, through allowing the sharing of resources and the provision of affordable accommodation. Limited financial resources would then be available for the provision of services rather than being spent on accommodation.
Norton Park opened in 1998 and is seen as a model of excellence for the provision of shared premises and recognised throughout the sector.
The success of Norton Park has strengthened our commitment to provide further shared premises throughout Scotland and to support our future tenants in their development as effective social change organisations. Our waiting list for our shared premises at Norton Park steadily increases year-on-year and we are currently developing an expansion project to help alleviate this lack of suitable accommodation.
